Welcome, people from all over the world.

Let me tell you my story as an elderly mother living through a genocide. I am Inshirah Ahmed, and I live in the northern Gaza Strip. My husband died, leaving behind orphaned children for me to care for. At that time, my son Abdul Razzaq was ten years old and my daughter Jannat was seventeen. I was unable to complete my children’s education because we could not afford university fees. Abdul Razzaq and Jannat were excellent students, but the war prevented them from completing their education, as the occupation destroyed their schools.

As for our home, it was demolished by the occupation. Living conditions there are deplorable, and we live in tents infested with insects, mosquitoes, and rats. The occupation destroyed my home, breaking its walls, pillars, and roof.

Nevertheless, I insisted on living there, despite the difficulty, given that my home is in the northern Gaza Strip, which has been devoid of any semblance of life. It is completely unfit for human life, only for animals. Here, I suffer from the garbage that’s everywhere in the streets, the sewage that fills the roads, and the contaminated water we drink, and even wash with. The occupation has starved us and closed the crossings, leaving us with no food, drink, or clean water.

I lost my job as a teacher. I worked as an Arabic teacher more than 15 years. My young son, Abdul Razzaq, was one of the smartest students in his class, the most passionate and inquisitive, and the most knowledgeable about everything new in the world. He even thought of imaginative innovations and inventions to improve our standard of living. They destroyed my son’s dreams, hobbies, and future.

Now, all he does is collect firewood, break it, light fires, and fetch water. Despite his young age, he can’t carry buckets of water. He has lost a lot of weight due to carrying heavy loads, the lack of food, and the strenuous work he performs. As for my daughter, Jannat, she is 20 years old. Her father died when she was 17 years old when she was in high school. I am investigating the possibility of my beloved daughter Jannat completing her university education, as I cannot afford to pay her tuition fees. My daughter Jannat is studying economics and accounting. She completed a two-year diploma program and then dropped out. She was unable to complete her bachelor’s degree in her field. I ask for support so I can complete her education and ensure a better life for her.

I am an elderly woman, 59 years old, who cannot bear the burdens of war and the difficulties of life. I suffer from arthritis in my feet. I need surgery on my joints. I ask for your donation and assistance so I can live, complete my children’s education, and endure the hardships of life. The war has exhausted us with killing, hunger, and displacement.

A note from the organizer:

Hi My name is Sophie, I am a 24 year old USAmerican girl and I am helping in any way that I can to support families directly. I was connected to this family through a mutual friend who used to live in Gaza and is currently in diaspora in the US. I can confirm the validity of this request for aid, and having donated funds before, can guarantee that any funds you donate WILL reach this family.

I know on the outside of Gaza, things are increasingly difficult to keep up with but please for a second, pause, and give this story your attention because it is a testament to the resilience and determination of Palestinian people that they continue to reach out and advocate for their lives.

This story shows how much the attack on Palestinian lives is also an attack on disability rights, women’s rights, environmental justice, reproductive justice, and education. Help support a family’s life and freedom by donating today <3 Syed Rahman 4 weeks ago $200 Anonymous
